The main concern of the IAG team is to ensure that the service we offer is of the highest quality. The Service therefore requires both practitioners and clients to work within a framework of agreed policies, which are summarised below.
Equal Opportunities Policy
The main thrust of the IAG Service is to promote equality of access to learning opportunities for all adults living and/or working in the London Borough of Hackney.
The IAG team are committed to preventing discrimination at all levels of its operation both at the Service level and individual levels. The Service recognises the wealth and cultural diversity of the communities living and working in Hackney. The IAG team will seek to eliminate barriers of sex, gender, age, marital status, disability, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation or ex-offender status.
In our delivery, the Service will endeavour to respond to all the learning needs of our clients. This policy applies to both the service delivery and the employment practices of the service.
Health and Safety Policy
The Health and Safety at Work Act requires that every single employee and client must take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and other persons who could be affected by their behaviour at work.
The IAG Service has the responsibility for implementing the Act with the respect of the service. However, to do so it also requires the co-operation of all workers and clients. In this respect, the Service is responsible for complying with the following rules, which have been established to ensure healthy working conditions:
- Take reasonable care of your own personal health and safety and those of others with whom you are working.
- Report incidents that have led to, or may lead to injury.
- Co-operate in the investigation of accidents with the object of introducing measures to prevent a recurrence.
Clients should:
- Take reasonable care for their own health and safety.
- Take reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of others with whom they work or may be affected by their actions.
- Report to a member of staff any physical condition that is or potentially could be unsafe.
Fee Policy
It is the Service's policy to provide a free information, advice and guidance service to the residents and workers of the London Borough of Hackney. Additionally, residents of Tower Hamlets and the City of London can access the Service as part of the Service's Partners in Learning (PiL) arrangements.
The Service has developed a policy on charges for clients who do not fit into the above categories. Details of these are available on request.
No Smoking Policy
The IAG Service operate a no smoking policy. Smokers are requested to smoke outside. If you do not adhere to this policy, the Service reserves the right to refuse access.
