- To raise the learning aspirations of the Service's client groups through the provision of information, advice and guidance.
- To facilitate access onto and through the learning systems through advocacy and other appropriate methods of intervention.
- To identify gaps in the provision of learning opportunities and feedback this information to providers to enable them to provide more appropriate learning opportunities.
- To ensure learning opportunities are made more accessible to the Service's clients and potential clients by assisting them to overcome personal, institutional and educational barriers.
- To empower adults to take greater responsibility for, and control of their lives with particular reference to vocational choice.
- To enable clients to improve their skills in self-assessment, learning decision-making and action-planning.
- To contribute to a creation of a more confident, flexible and better trained workforce.
- To better respond to those groups in the community who may not previously have had the opportunity to benefit from learning.
- To make in-depth guidance to the adult community more accessible through the removal of the geographical, physical and psychological barriers that currently prevents them from using the Service.

- Returning to study
- Studying while claiming benefits
- Use of educational databases
- Sources of funding for learning
- Help with applications for Colleges and Universities
