Welcome to Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG). Formally known as the Education Advice Service for Adults (EASA), the IAG team provide free, independent and impartial information, advice and guidance to adults over the age of 19 living and/or working in the London Borough of Hackney.

  • Equal Opportunities
    The Education Advice Service for Adults was set up in an effort to promote Equal Opportunities in, and access to learning opportunities for adults who traditionally, have not benefited fully, for one reason or another, from the education and training systems and would wish to return to some form of learning.
  • Language Needs
    The Education Advice Service for Adults provides information and guidance for individuals whose first language is not English and who have or is seeking refugee status.
  • Equivalency
    For foreign nationals and individuals with overseas qualifications, the Service can establish equivalencies for entry onto courses in British institutions.
  • Advocacy
    For those individuals who lack the confidence to approach institutions, or do not know the system, an advocacy service is provided, with the Service negotiating with agencies and organisations on behalf of the client.
  • Progression
    The Education Advice Service for Adults provides guidance on the range of progression routes available to adults returning to learning and who are not sure how to progress from one level or course to another.
  • Special Information Days
    One of the Service aims is to increase the awareness of the range of learning opportunities available to Hackney Adults as well as to increase the levels of learning aspirations of the community.
  • Library Facilities
    The Service's information bank containing learning resources on courses occupations, finance for learning, job search, personal development materials and the writing of CV are all available to the general public during normal office hours.
  • Computer-Aided Guidance
    If the client is not sure of what course or occupation they would like to follow, the Service has a computer-aided guidance package that is available for use during the designated advice and guidance sessions.
  • Wheelchair Access
    The Education Advice Service for Adults is located on the 2nd Floor of the Technology & Learning Centre at the corner of Mare Street and Reading Lane. Lifts are available to facilitate access to the counseling rooms and the resource area on the 2nd Floor.
  • Opening Hours
    The Service is open for information, advice and guidance sessions on Monday to Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Appointments can be made outside these core hours. Telephone enquiries can be made on arrangement outside these core hours.
