All children and young people have the right to be protected from physical and emotional harassment and abuse; a right enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of The Child. Children also have a right to learn, live, travel and play in a safe environment, where they can thrive and achieve to their full potential.
Bullying can and does happen in all children and young people’s settings including schools, play & youth centres and projects, as well as in the wider community; and that bullying can and does happen to adults in the workplace.
It’s a hindrance on the lives of our children and young people as it inhibits their full participation in education, learning, cultural, social and leisure activities.
Bullying is never acceptable and will not be tolerated in Hackney. We want all children and
young people to feel confident to report bullying whenever and wherever it happens, and
to get the help they need in order to feel safe again.
The Learning Trust is committed to working together to build an community where all children and young people can be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve future economic wellbeing. We’re committed to offering support to the victims of bullying and working with perpetrators to change their behaviour.
It is up to all of us to make our borough a bully–free zone.
