Carnegie book award shadowing

To mark the ever popular and respected children’s book award, The Learning Trust will be holding a third Carnegie Finale in June 2010 at Hackney’s Council Chambers. Over one hundred students representing ten Hackney secondary schools will come together to judge which book they believe should win the award. Hosting this year’s exciting event and holding a Q and A for students, will be Carnegie shortlisted writers and also local published children’s writers.

In the tradition of more established book ceremonies, the day will feature a showcase of the seven shortlisted books and will offer lots of opportunities for discussing the winning ingredients for a good book. To prepare for the big event, students will be expected to read seven shortlisted books which cover a number of historical and contemporary worlds.
