Runs a variety of externally funded projects specifically to enhance provision for under fives an their parents and carers. Projects include toy libraries, accident prevention schemes, activities and creches.
The Under 5's Project has been running successful, well-attended toy libraries and play sessions throughout the Borough of Hackney for the last 8 years. The present libraries/play sessions are held at various venues such as baby clinics, community centres, libraries and nurseries.
The overall aim of the project is to support parents/cares to develop the play, learning and language development of their children in a safe, fun and structured environment. This gives children a chance to gain confidence and independence and at the same time, socialize in a small group. The scheme delivers its services in a non-stigmatise manner, being culturally sensitive and having flexible strategies. All information and guidelines, instructions are translated into most used community languages
