There is a statutory duty, detailed in the Childcare Act 2006, for all local authorities to conduct “regular localised research into childcare sufficiency”.
From April 2008, all local authorities have a duty to secure sufficient early years and childcare provision for parents in their area.
Each local authority has to produce a document called the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment. Our Childcare Sufficiency Assessment document details the outcomes of research during the period April to November 2007 into the demand for childcare in Hackney compared to the corresponding supply of childcare in the borough.
You can download either the full assessment or the summary document.
