Message from the Head of Centre
The Children’s Centre at Tyssen is embedded within Tyssen Community School. The Centre is located in North East Hackney with a population that contains a vibrant cultural mix of families from diverse faith and ethnic backgrounds. We work together as a school and Children’s Centre in partnership with the local community and we share the vision of “Together for Excellence”.
The Children’s Centre at Tyssen is the strategic children’s centre for this area of Hackney and our staff and advisory committee take the lead in ensuring that the Every Child Matters Objectives are translated into accessible and supportive services for children aged 0-11 and their parents and carers.
Our purpose built children’s centre opened in February 2007 providing 52 day care places for the under 5’s. We aim to give children the best start in life, through education, care and play. All children and their families matter to us.
Our vision for our children is summed-up by the statement Together for Excellence. By this we mean:
- Creating the environment for children to have a happy and healthy start physically, emotionally and socially.
- Creating the environment that helps children to have a happy and healthy start physically, emotionally and socially.
- Supporting families through challenging times and enabling them to reach their full potential.
- Providing easy access to information and services.
- Learning together through play.
- Reaching out and working across all communities, challenging prejudice and celebrating diversity.
