| Consultation on the re-organisation of Downsview, Horizon, Ickburgh and Stormont House Special Schools to cater for children with very complex needs in Hackney
We want to make sure our special schools are set up to meet the needs of Hackney’s children & young people both now and into the future. We have set out a number of proposals to help us do this. A document explaining what the proposals are and why we are making them can be downloaded here.
During June and July 2010, we will be talking to parents & carers, staff at Downsview, Horizon, Ickburgh and Stormont House, as well as other people and organisations who have an interest in the schools about these proposals. This is your opportunity to let us know what you think.

Consultation on promoting disability equality
The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 requires The Learning Trust to improve what we do by:
- promoting equality of opportunity between disabled people (children, young people and adults) and other people;
- eliminating discrimination which is unlawful under the Act;
- eliminating harassment of disabled people that is related to their disabilities;
- promoting positive attitudes towards disabled people;
- encouraging participation by disabled people in public life;
- taking steps to take account of disabled people’s disabilities even where this involves treating disabled people more favourably than other people.
Please take this opportunity to let us know your views by answering the questions below.
The information you provide will help us to identify ways we might achieve fewer barriers, greater equality, fairness and respect for disabled service users, staff and members of the community.
We positively welcome your comments and suggestions
