16 - 19 Learner Support Fund
A one-off grant, of up to £1000, may be given to students to meet specific needs whilst studying.   These needs may include, but are not limited to, childcare costs, school trips or specialist equipment.

In order to qualify students must meet the following criteria:

  • Aged between 16 and 19 on 1 September 2005.
  • Attending a school sixth form
  • Be a Hackney resident
  • You must have been ordinarily resident in the British Isles for three years prior to 1 September 2005.
  • Parents joint income is less than £17,000 for the financial year ending 5 April 2005.

The one-off maximum grant will depend on your specific needs and your individual circumstances.

You can apply for the grant at any time during the academic year as long as there are funds available. The fund will close when the sum allocated by the Learning and Skills Council has been spent.
