Hackney is a veritable melting pot in the heart of the City where more than 120 languages are spoken. As one of the host boroughs for the 2012 Olympics things are on the up. The Olympics will bring tangible long – term benefits to the borough such as improved transport, better facilities for local people and more jobs. The Olympics will put the spotlight on Hackney and people will see what we have known for a long time – it’s a great place to live and work.

For those who like the outdoors life there’s Victoria Park, the Lee Valley conservation area, 87 full sized football pitches and the beautiful Regents Canal. For shopaholics Dalston and Broadway Market will keep your pockets light and if its arts and culture or just cafe life, then look no further than Hoxton & Shoreditch, which are home to a number of art galleries and an array of worldwide cuisine. Night life is buzzing in Hackney. Not only does Dalston boast the Rio cinema, one of the few independent and community run cinemas in the country, it is also notorious for its varied club and bar scene. Hoxton is infamous for its trendy residents and quirky bars. However if you don’t know your Brogue from your Trilby you can head for the laid back village life of Church Street in Stoke Newington..just watch out for the 4 x4 prams on Sunday morning!
