| Hackney's Parent Awards |
Hackney's Parent Awards recognises the outstanding contributions made by Hackney parents
to their families and community as role models and volunteers in schools, children's centres and
other local organisations.
The awards pay tribute to mothers, fathers, grandparents and foster carers who are making a difference for children and young people in the borough. Parents are taken to include all those who provide significant care for children in a home or family context, including biological parents, step-parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, grandparents or other relatives.
Award categories:
Volunteer of the Year
For a parent who has demonstrated passion, flexibility, commitment, reliability, ability to make a difference for and be inspirational to others, in a settings (school, children’s centre, supplementary school, community organisation).
Mum of the Year
For a mother who has overcome adversity, beaten the odds and approached life positively and enthusiastically despite the barriers they have faced Within this category will be a commendation for Young Mum of the Year.
Dad of the Year
For a father who has overcome adversity, beaten the odds and approached life positively and enthusiastically despite the barriers they have faced Within this category will be a commendation for Young Dad of the Year.
Grandparent of the Year
For a grandparent who has made a significant difference to their grandchild’s/grandchildren’s life by actively sharing the care in raising their grandchildren or taking on parental responsibility following the death or absence of the child’s parent.
Foster Parent of the Year
Have fostered for a minimum of 3 years and have either fostered a significant number of children or a child with complex needs and inspired young people in developing lasting relationships, developing skills for the future and enabling them to invest in family life.
