16 - 19 Learner Support Fund

An allowance of up to £100 per term, may be given to students to provide exceptional support to students aged 16 -19, who are experiencing financial difficulty with meeting costs associated with learning.

In order to qualify students must meet the following criteria:

  • You should be a registered pupil at school/college aged 16–19 years
  • You must be living in Hackney on 30 June 2007
  • Your parents’ joint income is less than £30,810 a year or they/you receive DWP (Department for Work & Pensions) benefits or Inland Revenue Tax Credits
  • You do not receive an Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA).

The one-off maximum payment of £300.00 can be provided depending on your specific needs and your individual circumstances.

You can apply for financial help throughout the year as long as there are funds available.
