Elective Home Education

As a parent / carer, you must ensure that your child receives a full time education from the age of five, and this education can be received either at school or in the home.

When considering whether to educate your child at home, you do not need to do anything if your child is of pre-school age, although it will help us to keep track of all pupils being educated at home if you could write to the LA stating that you intend educating your child at home from a particular date, giving their name, date of birth, address and your contact number.

Each LA needs to be aware of the educational arrangements being made for every child in the authority, and so communication with parents and carers is extremely important.
