The service offers individual or group tuition to both primary and secondary schools.

What the service does:

• raise the musical attainment of pupils.
• support pupils in acquiring skills which will allow them to enjoy and become actively involved in a wide range of musical experiences contributing to the musical life of the school or community.
• promote pupil's understanding of music in the everyday life of their own and other cultures.
• enable pupils realise their musical potential through the playing of a musical instrument.
• encourage self confidence and develop a sense of personal achievement and self expression in pupils.

Hackney Music Development Trust

The Learning Trust's partner, Hackney Music Development Trust (HMDT), also offers instrumental opportunities for students, including the Centre for Young Musicians - Hackney and Young Jazz Hackney music schools.

HMDT is a dynamic organisation which creates a wide range of music projects encompassing a broad range of cultural traditions and talents in Hackney. HMDT works closely with schools and many community organisations to sustain a legacy of music education for people of all ages, gender, ethnicity and ability, working to increase access to high quality musical experiences, raise achievement and nurture local talent.
