Statemen: Partnerships with parents/carers and the wider community are crucial to supporting children
to achieve as well as they possibly can.
Developing learning networks between and within schools and
settings will ensure that we spread and develop best practice.
The development of extended schools
and children centres is at the core of our vision to make partnerships effective across education, health
and social services.
We want to ensure that all community groups are involved in both running and
accessing improved services and we will promote equality and tackle discrimination.
Principles
- All schools and settings will become part of a
Learning Network, which will support school
and setting development and local decision
making
- All parents/carers will be empowered to
support their child learning and will have
access to parenting programmes which are
based on sound research.
- All schools and settings will foster a learning
culture in which children, staff and the wider
community can share and develop skills.
- Successful schools and settings will be
encouraged to support other establishments in
vulnerable circumstances.
Partnerships will be built with the school
community, the wider community and the
global community.
- We will work in partnership to develop a variety
of communication strategies to help learn how
we can better meet the needs of all parents
and children.
- We will ensure that high-quality services, which
reflect the needs of the local communities and
aim to positively tackle child poverty, poor
health, child deprivation and social exclusion,
are available to all.
- We will make available additional services to
help close the gap experienced by
disadvantaged groups.
- We will ensure the child's voice is sought,
listened to and responded to.
Standards: What will it look like
- Learning networks will focus on key priorities
for Hackney and the national agenda.
- Learning networks will have shared devolved
responsibilities.
- There will be an overview of our area which will
ensure that language is never a barrier.
- We will share and develop innovative ways to
welcome parents into schools and settings and
to actively involve parents in their children´s
education.
- Schools and settings will be encouraged to see
themselves as part of the wider community.
- The Workforce Reform will support the
development of extended and healthy schools
and help to ensure that staff are able to focus
on their key role.
- Schools and settings security will continually
encourage and develop a learning and sharing
ethos that is shared with the community.
- Strategies such as peer coaching will ensure
that all staff have the opportunity to observe
and be observed by a range of colleagues in
order to develop their skills and expertise
- Effective induction practice is essential in
Hackney and will ensure that staff feel well
supported and positive about working as part
of a vibrant and exciting community.
