What is Hackney Portage?
Portage is a home visiting service, which helps children with delayed development. Portage recognises that parents are the best people to teach their child and so relies on parental involvement in both the planning and carrying out of the child's learning development goals and activities.
Who is Portage for?
Portage caters for any child from birth to three years who appears to be behind in certain areas of development as well as children who have a recognised disability e.g. Down's syndrome.
Portage is part of the Educational Psychology Service which is part of The Learning Trust and based at The Technology and Learning Centre, 1 Reading Lane, Hackney E8 1GQ.
How can I get Support from Portage?
Most children are referred to Portage through the Multi Agency Referral System meeting that is held weekly at Hackney Ark. Parents can also refer themselves directly.
