What is Hackney Parent Partnership Service?
We are a confidential service offering information, advice and support to parents/carers of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities. This free service is open to Hackney resident parents. All local authorities have to have a parent partnership service.
Find out more about this at www.parentpartnership.org.uk
Hackney Parent Partnership Service operates at ‘arms-length’ from
The Learning Trust and is based in the Resource Centre at Hackney Ark. Interpreters can be arranged.
Does your child have special educational needs, or do you think he or she might have?
We can help you if you:
- are worried that your child is falling behind at school
- think something is wrong, but you’re not sure what
- think your child needs more help than they are getting now
- would like help to talk to the school
- have been told that your child needs a ‘statutory assessment’ or ‘statement’
- disagree with your child’s statement
- are worried about choosing the right nursery, school or college
- want to find out where to go for other help and support
What will we do?
- Listen to your concerns for your child
- Explain the duties of the school and The Learning Trust towards you and your child
- Discuss your responsibilities as a parent / carer
- Encourage you to express your views
- Offer an ‘independent parent supporter’
- Offer help with letter writing and school meetings
