Special Needs
An Inclusive Approach

The Learning Trust believes that all people are of equal value and consequently that all educational settings should make high-quality, balanced provision to help all learners achieve their full potential.

We continually plan and develop new provision and resources to make sure that as far as possible the needs of all children can be met in a local mainstream school or setting. All schools have money in their budgets to provide appropriate support for children with Special Educational Needs.

Special-needs training is available for teachers and support staff, and schools are encouraged to share good practice.

Specialist advice and support services can be consulted by schools to help with the planning and provision for children with Special Educational Needs.

The Learning Trust ensures that all its schools follow the Government Code of Practice. A self-evaluation and auditing system supports schools in keeping a check on their special-needs procedures. These procedures are audited annually by representatives of the Learning Trust and the SENCO of a neighbouring school.

The Learning Trust uses regular monitoring arrangments to check on the way a school spends the money that it has been delegated for Special Educational Needs.
