Our core activity is transporting about 410 Special Needs Children, to and from their allocated Schools every school-day, who have been “Statemented” by Special Educational Needs (SEN) Service with having disabilities or/and behaviour problems.
As this core activity only engages our resources (Drivers and Buses)during the morning and afternoon School Round Periods of 07.15 hrs to 09.15hrs in the mornings and 15.00 hrs to 17.15 hrs in the afternoons, we endeavour to maximise the utilisation of our assets during our non-core times by undertaking other revenue generating work for schools and other organisations. These include pre-booked curriculum related travel trips to swimming pools and ad-hoc trips to museums and recreational venues in and around London.
We also provide passenger transport services for various other sports and community events to both internal and external customers alike to meet customer demands, often at a very short notice.
Our prices are very competitive indeed for journeys within our ‘Non-Core’ and ‘School Holiday’ periods as we are not ‘driven by the profit-motive'.
The revenues generated in this way not only provide us with the means to offset some of our own operating costs of this valuable service from within our own resources but more importatntly it helps to lower the unit cost of transporting Special Needs Children and the savings can be re-directed towards improvements in other areas of service provision for Hackney’s school children.
We have the expertise to find the most appropriate and economical solution for all types of transport needs either from within our own resources or by engaging sub-contractors on very favourable terms to suit our clients’ needs. |
