Matrix-accredited IAG service

The Adult Education Advice Service offers advice and guidance to Hackney residents with the aim of increasing engagement in lifelong learning, improving skills and reducing unemployment. The team meets clients at Hackney Learning Trust and also works on an outreach basis, building networks and partnerships with community groups, individuals and training providers.

What you can expect from us

  • Advisors who are qualified, understanding, approachable and who give impartial advice
  • Advisors who will listen to your needs and treat you with respect
  • Assessments and placement into classes
  • Careers counselling to assess and support you to plan your career or change it
  • Guidance on how to get into College and University education, including training for technical and professional work
  • Advice on student funding and how to apply
  • Support to get volunteering placements and referrals for employment
  • Referrals to specialist support services if we cannot meet your needs

What we expect from you

  • That you treat staff politely
  • That you attend appointments on time
  • That you notify us if you cannot make an appointment so that we have sufficient time to offer the session to someone else
  • That you carry out actions to meet your agreed aims
  • That you update your advisor on your progress
  • That you are respectful of all other clients or learners with whom you may come into contact
