The LIT Programme
The LIT Programme delivers a small group intervention that improves the reading comprehension, writing, spoken English and listening skills of Year 7 pupils who are behind with their literacy skills. The programme supports these students by equipping them with strategies for learning and understanding, as opposed to just decoding, a piece of text.
Destination Reader is a new approach to teaching reading in KS2. Destination Reader involves daily sessions incorporating whole class modelling prior to the children applying these skills through partner work and independent reading. Children deepen their understanding of the texts they read through the systematic use of a series of strategies and language stems.
