Boxing Academy

Pre 16 provision

Established in 2007 the Boxing Academy is an alternative education provider that offers high quality education to some of the most hard-to-reach young people. We have a reputation for a rigorous approach to educating challenging young people and a track record with successful outcomes.

Our unique model offers intense mentoring and support for young people, placing them in a class of eight students with a dedicated boxer who acts as mentor, teacher support and coach throughout their stay with us. We offer places for year 8 - 11 pupils, both boys and girls.

Why boxing?

Boxing benefits our students by getting them fit, teaching them teamwork, anger management, discipline and improving their confidence and concentration.

Our ethos reflects our origins, that of a boxing gym. A small, comfortable and familial environment with clear boundaries, a system of rewards and sanctions and an emphasis on discipline, achievement and hard work.

We offer the following academic courses, alongside daily boxing training:

  • GCSE’s in English Language, Maths, Science, Art
  • Cambridge National Certificate in Sport (GCSE equivalent)

We also provide workplace experiences, life skills, employability workshops and personal goal-setting to support our students in every aspect of their lives.

The Boxing Academy has won numerous awards including the 2017 Tes alternative provision school of the year.
