Who we are
ELATT is an award-winning training provider made up of a dynamic group of people. Graded Outstanding by Ofsted, we are here to help our students realise their potential in all aspects of learning, life, work and wellbeing.
We provide a supportive, encouraging and nurturing environment for young people who have complex and inter-related needs, offering an engaging and inclusive programme both in and outside of the classroom.
Each year we enrol up to 80 young people aged 16-24, with priority placements for young people who have special education needs, looked after children and refugees and asylum seekers.
Our students achieve their qualifications at rates that better the national averages, and our students successfully progress into further and higher education and training.
Our learning programmes
All our students receive a personalised timetable tailored to their individual needs, including assistive technologies and equipment loans. As a specialist in digital technology training for over 35 years, we offer training in:
- Web Design and Development
- Software Development
- Computer Engineering
- Business Administration (including Microsoft Office)
- Digital Media Production
- Game Design
- English and maths GCSEs (compulsory if existing grades are below C or 4)
Where appropriate we teach Functional Skills as a stepping-stone to GCSEs, ensuring that students feel their English and Maths studies are supported without the pressure of GCSE exams.
We keep our class sizes small, with an average of ten students per course. We also have a Teaching Assistant in every class, and often a one-to-one Keyworker too. This allows each young person to receive a high amount of individual support in each class session, enabling them to thrive and achieve a high degree of success!
Safeguarding and support
We are committed to supporting young people attending our setting with their emotional and mental wellbeing. Students have ready access to a speech and language therapist, educational psychologist, wellbeing and mentoring support, and finance and debt advice from our partner Island Advice. We have a Disability, EHCP and Liaison Officer who will be happy to discuss how to meet your needs.
Our experienced support staff are on hand in each classroom and all teaching staff have experience of working with children with SEN and social, emotional and mental health issues, providing an inclusive classroom setting where safeguarding and wellbeing are paramount.
Enrichment
At ELATT we aim to produce resilient and well-rounded students with the confidence to succeed in life and work. To do this, we run an immersive enrichment programme that helps students develop in diverse areas, including:
- Social skills - through a programme of after-school clubs and regular trips to cultural and social events both in London and even the UK.
- Community engagement and volunteering - including volunteering for local good causes and working to improve the local area. In 2022, students supported homeless charity Highway House and campaigned with Citizens UK to improve support in the borough for young people with SEN needs.
- Employability - including work experience and mentoring with leading employers such as UBS, Sopra Steria, Opus II International and Kingston Technology.
- Creative skills - including learning journalism with Headliners, film-making and editing with Odd Eyes Theatre and conservation skills with the London Wildlife Trust.
