Traveller Education Service

About the service

The Traveller Education Service works with Gypsy Roma and Traveller children and young people ranging from 0 to 19 years.

The service uses a multi-agency approach in order to achieve the best outcomes for Gypsy Roma and Traveller pupils by:

  • Providing support to families and schools with access, admission procedures, interviews and induction
  • Providing support to prevent school exclusions
  • Monitoring access and inclusion of Gypsy Roma and Traveller pupils
  • Promoting the inclusion of children in education by advising on interventions, support and plans for Gypsy Roma and Traveller children's inclusion
  • Helping forge positive relationships between schools and the community
  • Providing information to parents/carers about special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
