Notification of school place offer and what to do next

Applicants who applied online will get an email from eAdmissions of the result of the application on 18 April 2017 from 5pm onwards. Those applicants who completed paper applications or have no school offer will receive a letter the following day sent by first class post on 18 April 2017.

How do I accept my school place?

The email from eAdmissions will tell you what to do. Simply follow the instructions to accept your child’s school place directly online or:

Those of you who receive the outcome by post must complete and return the reply slip enclosed. Remember that either way you must accept the offer by Monday 2 May 2017. If you don’t do this, we may withdraw the offer. We also need to know if your circumstances have changed and you no longer want the place. If you forget to accept the offer by this date you can call the Admissions Team on the contact numbers below and we will update your application.

What happens if I don't get a place in any of my preferred schools?

Hackney Learning Trust will ask you to consider schools that still have places available from the list attached to your letter. If you do not get a place in any of your preferred schools and have not received your letter 5 days after 18 April, please contact us for a copy. You will need to rank your new preferences in order of 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the reply form. You will only get one offer of a school place. Will my child be on the application waiting list for the primary schools I do not get a place at?

If you have been offered a place at a lower preference school, your child will automatically be added to the waiting lists of any Hackney schools you have ranked higher on your application form. If you have been refused a place at all Hackney schools you listed on your application form, your child will automatically be added to the waiting lists for all of them. Your child’s position on the lists will be worked out according to the admissions criteria for each school and can go up or down depending on whether other children have been added to the lists. Hackney Learning Trust will continue to offer places and maintain the lists until September 2017. Parents will need to confirm by 1 September 2017 if they wish their child to remain on the waiting lists. From this date, waiting lists will be maintained in accordance with the primary school in-year admissions process. All primary schools will inform us when a vacancy becomes available. The next child on the waiting list will be offered a place, and the Admissions Team will send an offer letter to the parent.

How do I appeal?

If you believe there are exceptional reasons why your child can only attend a particular school, you can appeal against the refusal of a place at that school. The deadline for submitting your appeal is Tuesday 23 May 2017. The procedure and the infant class appeal form is available on the Fair Access and Appeals page. Please note that very few appeals are successful. You must complete and return an appeal form by the date specified on each form.

Children with special educational needs and disabilities

There is a separate process for pupils starting reception class who have a statement of special educational needs or an educational, health and care plan. You will need to obtain a separate application form to list the schools you prefer for your child. If you have not received this form, please call Barbara Carpenter on 020 8820 7326 who will then direct you to the correct person to speak with.
